The NHC was represented at the 40th Annual International Powwow in Bismarck, North Dakota, September 10-13, 2009. One of the largest powwows in North America, this was an opportunity to help reconnect Native Americans, particularly those of the Northern Plains, with their horse culture.

The Nokota Breed Class at Dressage at Devon (Devon, Pennsylvania) washeld on September 24. Nokota owner Jill Murray was instrumental inattracting a class of 10 horses this year for the prestigious show.(Last year, the show’s organizers voted the Nokotas the best-behavedbreed class; this year, with a full spectrum of Nokota colorsrepresented, it ought to be the most colorful as well!) And for thoseof you who may not have heard, Dorrie Bettle's Nokota gelding, MickeyBlue Eyes, took 1st in the class at the hand of Darcy Miller-Brown.
